Southgate Associates offers specialist heritage services to various planning processes, whether urban master planning projects, multi-disciplinary design teams tasked with delivering planning consents for significant development projects, or private clients seeking planning and statutory consents to alter or add to protected structures and recorded monuments.
Southgate Associates offer professional assistance to clients, whether private individuals, corporate entities or public bodies for planning applications which involve a protected structure, or development around a protected structure or landscape.
Our role in the area of heritage and planning includes providing design advice and support to architects working on new housing developments being planned within heritage designed landscapes, in architectural conservation areas or works planned to alter or build beside a protected structure or recorded monument. We also provide assistance to infrastructure companies seeking consents for necessary interventions in heritage landscapes, whether this involves telecommunications, transport, university campus or other interventions which necessitate consent or permission prior to works.
In addition, we work directly with clients who have protected structures which they need to adapt for the needs of modern living or working, and we are highly successful in achieving planning consent for additions to protected structures. Out multi-disciplinary team provides or coordinates all of the necessary documentation which is required to achieve planning consent, whether Architectural Heritage Impact Assessment, technical engineering input, surveys and environmental reports. At Southgate Associates, we are proud of our 100% positive track record in delivering successful planning applications, including 1.5 billion euro worth of housing and mixed use scheme development, without objection.
A growing area of our work is in the area of Urban Masterplanning. Working under a masterplanning lead, Southgate Associates provide specialist heritage/conservation input to the multi-disciplinary masterplanning team on any given project. In this role Southgate Associates assesses the heritage landscape in question, recording the relevant heritage assets and their current condition, identifying opportunities which arise from the heritage environment and ways in which the specific heritage landscape can offer resources through which a future community's 'pride-in-place' can be enhanced.
